These are called zero-width assertions. Lookahead and Lookbehind The (?=expr) construct checks whether the text that follows matches expr, without including expr in the result. WebPositive lookbehind zero-width assertions Looks to see if the current position in the string is immediately preceded by an occurrence of pattern, without pattern becoming part of the match string. So, '(?<=A)B' matches a B that is immediately preceded by an A, without making A part of the match.
